It won't take 30 years...I am sure of that. This is the wireless revolution. Unlike, the industrial age, there are not smoke stacks and factories to build. This will be like the Ali phantom punch when he was fighting Liston. It happened so fast that even today there are some that still don't believe it happened. Mark my words.

Just telling it like it is!!!

The tragedy may happen. But how long will it take. In the case of the Big 3 autos it took 30 years (beginning with the first oil shock in the 70s). Even then, consumers had a free choice to buy other automaker's products - (Toyota, Datsun, Mercedes, Renault, Jag, Volvo, Saab, etc). The cellular companies are trying to lock people in.

How many cellular consumers will continue to be frustrated until there is real choice?

Man... this scenario sure sounds familiar doesn't it, PTIers??? Take a look at the US Auto Industry. For so many years, there were three choices...GM, Ford, and Chrysler. For so long, customers tried to tell the big 3 that they weren't happy, they wanted better quality, they needed more dependability, they needed better gas mileage, they wanted more excitement, among a host of other things. However, automobiles were such an integral part of American lives, Americans continued to give their dollars...unwillingly. The Big 3 fooled themselves into thinking that folks were either spending their dollars because they were pleased with the products, or they thought that they would never lose the business based on the industry's tradition of churning customers among the three competitors.....needless to say the rest is history!!!

I gotta tell you customers looking for loopholes, and innovative ways to get away from companies coupled with carriers setting traps so that customers can't get away is the beginning of the end!!! One doesn't have to be a prophet to tell what the final chapter of this play looks like! Get ready for the next American Tragedy!

I'm sure carriers will try to fight this, but how long can they really hold off? Consumers are smart and they're talking on the internet. It's only a matter of time before consumers find another way to get what they want, be that by finding another loophole or making carriers listen to consumers to compete.

OK...

Fast Follower, for once it seems you have a point. You are right, you could pick up a shorter term to simply try out a new carrier! Good point.

Marc, looks like you have passed the reality check. Looks like you have a real life positive experience. BTW, I changed the url. Thanks.

Hmmm... what do PTIers think? If this concept really takes off, how will the carriers respond. Do they care that folks are trading their plans? Will they try to resist and not allow folks to do it? If two friends want to get out of their respective plans, are there any "interesting scenarios" that allow both to get out?

I don't know why, but it doesn't seem that this is carrier-friendly...what is it? How long will it be before we see the infamous "TRANSFER FEE"?

Like the ole Otis Redding tune... I gotta believe that, "Change is gonna come"!

Sounds like Marc is on the celltrade payroll. By the way, you had better capitalize USA part of your domain name or else it could be read cell-tra-deusa!
