PVR Wire has a little blurb on the upcoming Microsoft Argo.  I’m an Ipod user, but this Argo thing seems really promising to me.

TI is, you’re an IPod Video user.  What do you think about this thing from Microsoft?

Hold on, Fast Follower! There you rushing into the MS trap, like a so many times before! How many times do you have to get hit with the MS club before you finally learn??? I haven’t heard anything about this Argo PMP, but let me lay out the story for you. We have seen it so many times before!

1. The hardware will be unusually alluring….
2. Oh, what do you know! The price is just right. Right below the Ipod. How can I not buy this thing?
3. Is there a deal on songs? Certainly! There will most likely be some type of deal to convert you out of all of your iTunes. No doubt that you songs will be unable to be converted back…
4. After about 3 months of ownership, there will be some glitches. Don’t worry because you will be able to download the firmware to fix the problem. Although, the problem is not completely fixed, but you can still use the equipment. You have to because thousands of your tunes are now relying on this device, with no inexpensive way to get out.
5. You put up with the problem, but here MS comes to the rescue…. You learn that the next version is new and improved, the glitches are fixed, and just for giggles….there are some cool new features.
6. You run out to buy the next version, but now there is a conversion fee to move all of your songs to the new and improved format for the songs….

7. You are now officially held hostage by Microsoft. They will now barrage you with all sorts of accessories (chargers, connectors, and all essentials are now sold separately!)

Fast Follwoer, how many times do you have to follow this script??? MS will lure you like a drug dealer, and when you’re finally hooked leave you out on the street corner like a crack addict… leaving you no other choice than to keep buying the product. I am not falling for this one. Its too dangerous. Mark my words…. STAY CLEAR!

Again, I haven’t heard much about this, but I bet you the words WIFI, Wireless 1downloading, and song expiration will be in the future articles. Just like the Detroit Lions, MS needs an entire new playbook to fool folks on this one. Again, BEWARE

TI –
Are speaking from experience with new MS stuff? Or, are you speaking as a devoted Ipod man? We have to know. ‘Cause the brand equity built by the Apple guys is pretty strong. Those Mac versus PC commercials ARE very strong!

I am speaking as a fool that has been trapped before…how does it go? Get me caught up once, your fault… get me twice, MY FAULT!

Hopefully you won’t be repeating the infamous words of Marion Barry…. These fools set me up!

So are you anti-new MS stuff in general? In other words: stay away from anything new from the MS giant.

I am obviously not anti-MS. How can I be? But it has been proven time and time again that MS, when it is behind in the game, will do ANYTHING to get their fair share. And it is usually at our expese. In fact, I just saw an article… http://ce.seekingalpha.com/article/13295. Go up a few comments and see if I am right. They are going to courteously offer free iTune conversion. There will be WIFI downloading (expiration dates), and they will undoubtedly suck you in. Then BAM! They got you.

The important term in your last comment is “usually”. If MS makes it easy for ipod users to switch. What’s wrong with that. It sounds like good business to me.
