Welcome to the club LOL.

It does email, text messaging, calendaring and phone so well that I can’t imagine doing without it. Even with all of the additional capability WM5 devices have, I can’t even imagine moving back to WM5 for the above critical functions. WM5 is way too unstable and way too slow.

kristin, just so you know…TI will respond to this with a lot of blather about his WM5-based 6700, and all that the Blackberry can’t do.

I don’t know if you’re a frequent follower of the this blog or not. I just want to give you a “heads-up” because he can be a little unreasonable.

I believe he’s out of the country this week on business. But trust me, he’ll respond.

hah. i love my blackberry too much to ever cash it in on a treo…

In the past.. i havent been a blog follower, I just follow the blackberry tag here on wordpress.com and landed here.

I’m glad you found us. I might need your help explaining to the other co-author of this blog (TI) the virtues of Blackberry. ‘Cause he won’t get it.

Did I mention it doesn’t run Windows Mobile?… I’ve only ever owned one WM phone. I got so irritated one day I put it behind the tire of my car and backed over it.

Come on now… its just email. How exciting and loveable can it be? You have to love it cause that’s all your company would get you!
Yes I am in Europe this week. BTW, Slingbox on my WM5 device came in handy. All of the TV stations where I was were in another language. Great episode of LOST this week, huh. All I had to do was use the WIFI connection on the phone and …. wallah! BTW, I did a lot of email too!

On my way to Europe, I got lost going to the airport due to detours, but my WM5 device with CoPilot navigated me there on time and safely.

What am I doing? I am so sorry? This is the Blackberry post, not the 6700 post. I apologize, Fast Follower. I probably sound like the TV stations in Europe talking in another language. I will place this comment where it belongs… on the other post.

Again, I apologize for talking about all of the WM5 capabilities on your post.

What?? my blackberry does far more than just email. It has a built in, searchable yellowpages, takes photos, irc client, voice recorder, calendar & tasks, skype, .. (and you can watch videos, just like yours). Newer blackberries do have wifi, media, and gps capabilities.

face it TI. you’re out numbered =D.

I don’t doubt that blackberries are coming into there own. But the point that I was making to Fast Follower was that I have been there all along. Its sort of like finishing a race and then turning around to watch all of the slower runners cross the finish line. I don’t doubt that some of the blackberries have the features you mention above, but like I debated with Fast Follower before, does one have ALL of the features. I have to check, but I am pretty sure that there is not a Sling Media player for blackberries. You see I have moved so much further than simply watching videos! Also, not sure if this is correct, but I have yet to see a blackberry with touch screen capabilities in addition to the keyboard.

However, it wouldn’t surprise me if the rest of the pack is catching up, but the operative words are “catching up”, which implies that they were once (or still are) behind.

When I get a little time, I will check to see what the newer blackberries offer just to get updated, but I haven’t seen anything that would lead me to believe the blackberries can start to compete with true smartphones.

Fast Follower,
Have fun checking your email, calendar, and tasks….

kristin,
I am really not familiar with Blackberry models, what model has the most features. Let me take a look and I will let you know how it compares to a true smartphone.

Till next time…

No. No. No. You haven’t been there all of the time with your WM5. Real time email and calendaring isn’t that good on WM5. You just don’t know it. And the stability of the OS isn’t that goo either. You think you’ve got a great device, but you only know what you know. And you don’t know.
